Cities

Well.. In the 1900s (During the progressive era) cities were becoming very popular places to live. In the 1900s 30million people lived in cities. This "migration" was good and bad. The middle class made more money from this migration, But the poor people had it worse.

Many of the poor people also lived in the cities. It was estimated in 1904 that 1 in 3 people living in the cities was starving or close to death. Poor people didn't have the opporotunity to get a job, or live a better life.
