Settlement Houses

The main reason for having settlement houses was to have workers and immigrants have a place to live for a small amount of money.

The Hull House, Founded by Jane Addams and Ellen Gates Starr was established on September 18, 1889 on the northwest side of Chicago.

There were many things in the Hull House, They had a gym, theater, auditorium, and a cafeteria.

The Hull House achieved recognition for the best settlement house in the U.S.A and became the "flagship of a movement that included nearly 500 settlements" All in 1920.
